Hasegawa 1/32 scale ME262A of 3/JG7
by Kevin Weiche

I built this Hasegawa kit over several months. I used parts of Eduard's photo-etched details intended for the Revell kit. This kit is a joy, the biggest problem being the wing-fuselage mating which left a good sized gap that needed puttying. An additional problem was the need for etching panel lines on the fuselage, which I did using electrical tape as a guide because Dymo tape would not conform to the tube-like curves. I detailed the gun compartment as well as the port side engine, however, I can't bring myself to open up the engine nacelle because it fits so nicely. I used Tamiya acrylics and the color scheme is RLM 82 and 81 over 76. I only minimally weathered this model as I am really just a beginner.

Interestingly enough, I rigged up the scenery for the photograph by using dirt from the road outside my home and sagebrush clippings from the surrounding countryside here in Southern Idaho! I can see where I can improve and already have a few ideas.

My next project? I am building two Hasegawa FW 190Ds side-by-side. One will be a JV-44 "red-winged shrike" aircraft and the other will be a more typical scheme. I will emphasize realistic weathering of these models. After completion of the Doras, I have a 110 night fighter and a ME 163 Komet awaiting me. All in 1/32nd scale, of course.
