1/24th Trumpeter P-51D

This kit was built OOB with the addition of Waldron cockpit placards & harness buckles with a lead foil harness. I also scratchbuilt a new seat and added some detail to the radio. The fin fillet was removed to represent one of the early series of the D model. Decals for Major Tommy Hayes of the 357th Fighter Group are from Cutting Edge. The kit was painted with RAF topside green and neutral gray using Model Master enamels; weathering was by airbrush and water/detergent/acrylic paint "sludge" that I use for panel lines & landing gear wells, etc. as described in FineScale Modeler. The pilot figure was one of three that came with the kit.
