Revell P-47D
by Scott Murphy

This model is going to be quite a project, far more than my Corsair. I opted to scratch build everything this time versus using any resin. The cockpit and area behind it is scratchbuilt (I did use Waldron placards, intruments and bezels and seat belt hardware) using just about everything I could find; styrene, copper, aluminum tubing and foil, brass, steel wire, solder, acrylic rod, etc. My guess is there is close to 1000 pieces on the left side of the fuselage alone. The port .50 cal installation is also scratchbuilt, as are the guns, all panels and the ammo belt. I will also build everything from the firewall forward, using a Teknics resin R-2800-59. The rear of the engine, as well as a lot of the details, are also scratch built.

After going nearly blind making 75+ 1/32 rounds and "linking" them, the master is finally done. This set should suffice for any US WWII fighter or bomber.

I mailed it to Joe with Tiger Models Designs. He will make the molds and pressure cast them. My guess is he should have the sets ready for sale in a few weeks. No idea as to how many will come per package or a price but they will look a whole lot better than PE.
