Hawk 75 Conversion

By Tim Wilson

This kit is a combination of the Trumpeter P-40B and the Cutting Edge conversion kit for the Hawk 75. It also includes the Cutting Edge resin P-40 cockpit. Decals also courtesy of Cutting Edge, and are from a Mohawk IV, Flying Officer Tim Meyer, 155 Squadron, RAF, Imphal, India December 1943.

This kit was a challenge, considering I've not done a major resin conversion before. Measure twice, cut once is advice well taken, though I temper it with the warning for those who undertake this project that the Cutting Edge instructions are a bit on the sparse side--have your references handy, especially for the R-1820 motor.

As with most of my aircraft, I used airbrushed Model Master paints, as well as airbrush and water-based "sludge" for the weathering. Silver weathering was applied using the drybrush method.
