Modellbau Bodensee 2004
19/20/21 Nov. 2004 at Expo-Area in Friedrichshafen / Lake of Konstanz

The "MODELLBAU BODENSEE" this year happened again in the brand-new Expo-center in Friedrichshafen right beside the Friedrichshafen airport and the new ZEPPELIN NT-factory and is on the best way to grow more and more and become one of Germany's greatest model shows beside Nürnberg, Frankfurt and Dortmund. Although this is an expo for the whole modelling-hobby including RC-stuff, model trains and nearly all other kind of modelling related stuff which can be seen in six expo-halls the plastic-modelling is one of the great attractions for the visitors and it can be seen that our hobby gets some kind of a "boom" at this time. Our club had an expo-area of nearly 1200 square meters this year and many members of some partner-clubs like Stuttgart, Augsburg, Strassbourg (France) and also from Austria were present with great models from all themes. The following pics show a broad range of the big-scale-stuff, especially all that´s able to "fly", enjoy...and think about a visit next year!

Here we go:

Brand new and hot: REVELL HE 162, built by club comrade Siggi Borzutzki

From our modelling friends from Augsburg:

Zero and Corsair

Very, very nice Heli display:

Some details? ...Apache

PUMA from the german border-patrol

Three types of Helicopters used by the ADAC (German automobile club)

The following models were taken out of the clubs archive and belonged to a XXL-diorama in 1/32 they did a few years ago , unfortunately before I was a club-member but I`ve seen some very impressive pics, some facts here: the diorama was depicting an scene of an PTO wartime airport in WWII, size 10 x 5 meters, with nearly 300 kg sand and about 30 birds in 1/32 including all necessarily stuff like tanks, service personal and cars and trucks and much more. Here´s a pic of Bongs "Marge" in a hangar:

and, for sure, Corsairs, Wildcats, Hellcats, Dauntless´es and more...I´ll try to get a scan of some photos of the diorama, it´s really a must see!

Also a lot of beautiful Jets at the expo ... can you hear me, Menelaos? ;-)

Phantoms...

Starfighters...

F-16´s in 1/32 and...1/12!

Nice F-16 cockpit...

More Starfighters, not our scale (mainly in 1/72 and a few 1/48) but also a very, very impressive display!

Also the SciFi-stuff was very impressive in size and display! Here´s a display with flying-machines from nearly all well-known SciFi series from cinema and TV!

While we are in space...the commercial space-business was also represented...

Again my club comrade Jürgen Schutzbach showed some of his impressive selfmade-vacs...

Last but not least my display. Some of our club-members were at Telford (where the nats happened at the same weekend) so I took the chance to increase my display-space and show some of my birds (15, to be exact) in three different themes. First is the "German-Aces-display", showing the "aces of all time" Hartmann, Barkhorn and Rall on a step display with "battle of Britain"- aces Adolph Galland and Helmut Wick (left and right)...oh, and not to forget: the JUMO 004 in front of them ;-)

Another theme was a "Brit-display" showing th SEAFIRE FR47, the SPITFIRE MK 24, a BEAUFIGHTER and a TYPHOON

And finally the work of the last three months had to be shown, so here´s the combined "MUSTANGs and THUNDERBOLTs" display, from left to right: Mustangs are Hickey´s PI-J, Landers` WZ-I "BigBeautifulDoll" and Bartleys SX-B "Little Midget" followed by the T-bolts "Ernestyne" , "No guts, no glory" and "HUN HUNTER XVI".

I hope I could give you a small view from this great event which will happen again next year in November, wouldn´t that also be a great date for a LSP-EUROPE meeting? Feel free to contact me if you´d like to visit.
