Hasegawa 1/32 P-51D Mustangs Part 2

After gluing the fuselage halves together the motor area was detailed by doing the framing from a mix of plywood and aluminium (as can be seen in the pic above), then a first paint job on this area was done and also some additional wiring.

After that the starboard-wing construction went on the normal way by: doing the ribs of plywood, adding interior like machine-guns, ammo-belts and fuel-tank, doing the paint job and add the stringers from plastic sheet before gluing the wing halves together.

Normally I´m not a specialist in gear-bay detailing, but after getting a script for a great P-51D walkaround with lots of great detail shots of the real "Big Beautiful Doll" made by my club comrade Siggi Bortzuzki (thanx for that!) while she was at the AERO in Friedrichshafen in 1997 I was inspired to give this birds a bit more work on the wheel wells.
