Guillow 1/32 B-25

By Larry Hawkins

This is the Guillow's 32nd B-25 that I built in 1981 and yes, this is what happens when you move a few times and misplace parts, looks REALLY BAD, BUT THE FOLLOWING PIC'S WILL PROVE THAT AN OLD BUILT KIT AND EVEN IF IT BE MADE OUT OF BALSA WOOD CAN BE SAVED AND MADE TO LOOK LlKE IT WAS JUST BUILT.

The following is what I put into the rebuild and what it looks like after.

  1. Used two of the Revell Corsair engines I had in the parts stash. And same for the props.
  2. Redid the carb intakes at the top of the cowlings.
  3. Scratch built the twin rudders from sheet plastic.
  4. Nose wheel and tire from the Revell P-38 kit.
  5. Main struts are aluminum tubing.
  6. Reset the canopy as to the first build. Had a spare one.
  7. Detailed the top turret aft of the flight deck.
  8. Guns for the top turret came from the Hasegawa F-86 kit and the Hase P-5l kit as well.
  9. Same guns were used in the scratch built cheek packs that were field modified in early to mid '42.
  10. Panel lines are made using a fine black marker I got at an office depot.
  11. Decals are from the scrap box.
  12. Modified the kit cowls to make a C model 25 other the D model that the cowls were made for the kit.
  13. Added a .50 cal gun to the inside of the tail where the clear dome cover was and this was a field modified as well.
  14. The markings are hand painted and a special mix of blue was applied to make this 25 look weathered after the many missions it flew as to the side of the fuselage as in the pics of the finished model
  15. The decals were a life-saver that I got for doping a B-17 that Ray Peterson did for me. And to him a BIG Thanks for coming up to the plate.
