1/24 VFS
P-47 Thunderbolt VFS' upcoming release of the first ever 1/24 injection molded P-47 is reported to have 6 decal options in the first release, and more to follow in additional boxings. We received some nice profile art from VFS to preview the 6 marking options. There are two each RAF, Free French Air Force, and USAAF birds. The two USAAF decal options are both for Duxford-based 78th FG fighters. The RAF Thunderbolts feature an Egypt-based green gray bird from No 73 OTU "white 30," and "NV-K" from No 79 sqd based in Burma. The French Thunderbolts cover the green over grey "white 80" (the Commander's ship) from 1e Escadrille of GCI/4 Navarre, and a natural metal D-27 from GC II/5. The six profiles are all beautifully done by Richard J. Caruana, and with the exception of the two 78th FG birds were all previously published in Scale Aircraft Modeling International magazine (SAMI) VOL 10 Issue 3.
