From the files of “Now that I have finished me model, here this is” comes MDC’s Japanese pilot figure (MDC code: F32001) Superbly crafted by MDC’s resident sculptor Seth Nash; this figure incorporates a great amount of accurately represented detail in the form of the webbing and harness along with the life preserver and various uniform minutiae. Included as an extra and separate item is the parachute which is not visible in these photographs, however is every bit as well done as the rest of the figure.
In a relaxed and convincing pose, this pilot would look at home beside the new Tamiya A6M2 or alongside the forthcoming Rufe conversion from MDC as well, and will definitely add quality especially when posed on some carrier deck or a beach. The natural facial expression enhances the overall appearance of the figure, in stark contrast to the often over-animated poses and expressions we see on so many 35th scale figures. The resin casting is up to MDC’s usual standards and all of the detail is crisply replicated regardless of how minute. The figure in these pictures was expertly painted by Adrian Hopwood.
