RB Productions previewed by Jay Laverty
I would love to know how Radu manages to consistently amaze and astound us with projects and products that easily rank amongst the best this hobby has ever seen. I have made suggestion before that Radu must have sold his soul to Satan, which he has vehemently denied. Perhaps he had a terrible accident and was rebuilt like the 6 million dollar man? A "Modelbot" I will call him. Yes, "Modelbot the 6 million pound modeller" Not satisfied with giving us one of the best resin aircraft kits I have personally seen, and masters work that can only be marveled at, Radu has turned his talents to the computer and created a fantastic fret of photo-etched metal, that with the help of an etched folding tool, will be the most detailed and accurate Bf. 109 canopy available on the market. Radu is a meticulous modeller as is evidenced by his builds, and he uses the same approach when creating a product for other modellers to use. The instructions are clear and concise, well illustrated and even offer several tips to make assembly that much easier. Make no mistake, this is proper engineering down to the spring assembly for the lanyard that restrains the open canopy. While this etched set is most definitely some advanced engineering and not something that a complete novice should take on without any consideration, it is however not that complex that most modellers would have any problems with it. In fact, if you have any reservations or fear about working with etched, put them to one side and have a go with this. The most taxing point of making this set that I can imagine, would be the patience involved in assembling the small parts. This canopy can be used on any mark of Bf. 109 (aside from anything with a blown hood of course) (ed note: B,C,D, and early E models up to E-4 used a curved top canopy that cannot be made from this set). As you have probably gathered by now, I give this canopy set very high marks and thus I highly Recommend it to anyone with a 109 in their collection.
