1:32 Bf.109G-2 Detailed Wheel Well

Preview by Jay Laverty

Releases move from strength to strength with Radu's projects, and this release certainly raises the bar, not only for what Radu produces in the future, but also for what other producers make as well.

I was personally astonished with what I saw when I opened the envelope contain the set, and at close scrutiny this etched fret reveals some intricate and very nicely rendered detail.

The canvas insert is superbly reproduced, and the zipper in particular is marvelously done. The instructions are photographic which I personally prefer to drawings when it comes to etched and resin stuff, as it makes the layout and positioning that much clearer. The are of course accompanied by small diagrams that helpfully illustrate how to do more complex assemblies such as forming the ribs etc.

There is not a great deal of cutting that needs doing to the donor kit (any one of the 109G-2 kits from either Hasegawa, Revell, or Pro-Modeller) and the bulk of deconstructive surgery is sanding back the existing detail inside the upper wing.

Overall the quality of this release is second to none, and Radu genuinely deserves some serious recognition for producing some stuff that is well above and beyond what is generally available. With detail on both sides of the etched fret, this particular release belies an attention to detail that can only be admired.

Further similar sets for the G6, G10 and K4 are in development and will follow soon.
