Warbirds
Productions ¶¶¶¶ Reviewed by Warbirds productions has released a Spitfire Mk Vc conversion set in 1/32nd scale, to add to their ever increasing product line. By now, I am sure most of you are aware of the large numbers of resin sets made available by Vasko Barbic, the man behind Warbirds Productions. For those that are seeing his items in this review for the first time, I suggest that you have a closer look at the Warbirds UK and Warbirds US websites.
The conversion set will enable the modeler to construct an accurate Spitfire Mk Vc from Hasegawa Spitfire Mk Vb. As with other resin items from Warbirds, I believe this set to be well cast. Given Vasko's reputation for accuracy, I have little reason to worry about that with his products. The set I received in the mail includes no instructions. Therefore, additional reference detail is a must. As the wings on the Vc are quite different than that on the Vb, scribing panel lines onto the wings would be worth considering. For those modelers that have not tried scribing, it isn't that difficult a task. Just use quality scribing tools, take your time when referring to plans, and be aware that mistakes are easily remedied with cyano glues. The resin parts consist of: 1. Spinner and Blades (Rotol)
The spinner and blades represent Rotol designed units. The blades do have some flash on them, which is easily cleaned up. The spinner is detailed with recessed surfaces. Unfortunately, there are some very heavy molding lines to clean up on the surfaces. The spinner should be handled with care as appears to be very fragile.
Vasko's passion for the Supermarine Spitfire is quite evident given his extensive line of aftermarket products for the aircraft. Modelers can find this and other products from Warbirds within the links supplied with this review. Review Sample Compliments of Warbirds
