Vector, well known for their excellent castings and fine aftermarket engines, continues this trend with an engine for all of us with a WWI kit (or two, or three...) in the stash. Often overlooked, it's nice to see some aftermarket sets for kits representing the "Great War."

The set consists of 21 parts, molded in light gray resin. Two extra cylinders are provided just in case that X-acto blade slips. No flash is evident on my copy and the detail must be seen to be believed. The resin pour stubs should present no trouble at all to anyone who has used resin aftermarket parts previously. The modeler must provide their own plumbing, but a bit of wire and that's all fixed up... The instructions are quite straight forward as there are not a lot parts to mix up.

So, did I mention the detail is very impressive. The bolt pattern on the crankcase really stands out. This is also true for the detail on the cylinders. The cooling fins are easily discernible, as is the detail on the cylinder head.

This set is highly recommended for those who wish to add lots of detail to the very visible front end of their Sopwith Strutter, Camel, or Fokker Dr.I.
