The new hard cover book is printed on 292 pages of thick, glossy paper. The extensive text is lavishly illustrated with rare, high quality photographs. Color side profiles and modern works of art depicting some aircraft from the 352nd FG are also included. First hand combat accounts help to illustrate their day to day activities. The book begins with the birth of the 352nd FG in the United States. After going operational in September 1943. the authors then proceed to follow the history of the Group on a month by month basis. After the history concludes in April 1945, 40 pages of photographs show many of the assigned P-47's and P-51's. A pilot and aircraft chronology, list of air to air victories and aces completes the work. Hubert "Hub" Zemke, CO of the 56th FG called the first edition "absolutely the best fighter history to come out of WW II". I would have to agree! The book is an invaluable reference to anybody wishing to represent any of The Bluenosed Bastards of Bodney in kit form. Unit histories are a great source of information as they include many photographs that are not produced elsewhere. Consequently, I was not disappointed and I rate this book with five out of five stars. If you missed purchasing the first edition, be aware that only 1200 copies have been reprinted. Many have already been sold to 352nd members. The book is available from Bob Powell. Take note that Bob was a pilot with the 352nd FG and is willing to sign your copy of the book if requested. Please make your checks payable in the sum of $50.00 + $5.00 shipping and postage and mail to: Bob
Powell It isn't my intention to advertise on these reviews. However, given the limited availability of this book, I felt that many of you would want a chance at purchasing the book while still available! |
