Decals EC #37 JG 50 and JG 302 Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6's in 1/32nd Scale ¶¶¶¶¶ Reviewed by Mark Proulx |

is the second of four new decal sheets to be released by Jerry Crandall
of EagleCals. It is designed for use with the new Hasegawa release of
the Bf 109G-6, but you are supplied with markings for four aircraft from
JG 50 and JG 302.
The package consists of two decal sheets and six high gloss pages of instructions. Side profiles and topside views are printed in color for each aircraft. Black and white photos are included, allowing you to make reference to each scheme. The directions also show the proper placement of all the stencils applied to the Bf 109G-6. Jerry has included extensive information for each aircraft, giving a brief history, equipment installation and paint scheme. The Microscale decals appear to be very thin and are in perfect register. The first decals supplied, are for Major Hermann Graf's Bf 109G-6, "Green 1", W. Nr. 15913, September 1943. Controversy surrounds the color of the number painted on the fuselage side. Some sources say it is red; others claim it is black; while Jerry is convinced it should be green. All three colored numbers are included for the modeller to choose from. A JG 50 Red Hunter emblem is included for those modellers wishing to place it on their kit, however, the photos clearly show no emblem applied to Graf's aircraft. This colorful aircraft is finished with a white tail and red tulip nose applied over a scheme of RLM 74, 75 and 76. This aircraft was equipped with WGr. 21 cm rocket tubes. This option is not included with the Hasegawa kit. The decals for the second aircraft also come from JG 50. It is a Bf 109G-6, "White 10", W. Nr. overpainted. This aircraft, flown by Oblt. Alfred Grislawski in Septmber 1943, is finished in a pattern of RLM 74, 75 and 76 with a white tail. These markings will fit the Hasegawa 1/32nd kit, as originally released, with no extras required. |

The next aircraft is a Bf 109G-6 from I./JG 302 "Black 33", W.Nr. unknown. This night fighter, which was based in Finland in May 1944, is painted in the standard RLM 74, 75 and 76 scheme. It is equipped with underwing 20 mm cannon pods and an early style armored headrest. Both options are included in the Hasegawa kit. Some controversy exists about the color of the number painted on the side of the fuselage. Red and black numbers are supplied for the modeller's own interpretation. The last markings
supplied by EagleCals are for another Bf 109G-6 from JG 302. It is "Black
