Decals EC #39 JG 54, JG 3 and JG 27 Messerschmitt Bf 109G-6 in 1/32nd Scale ¶¶¶¶ Reviewed by Mark Proulx |
This
decal sheet is the final release in a series of four new decal sheets
by Jerry Crandall of EagleCals. He has supplied the modeller with four
new schemes for the new Hasegawa 109G-6 in 1/32nd scale.
The instructions include extensive research for each aircraft, using the same format, as with Jerry's other Bf 109G-6 decal sheets in this scale. However, only photographs for three aircraft are included. For further details, refer to my earlier reviews, as those same comments apply here. The decals are printed by Microscale in perfect register and the colors are flawless. I would expect no difficulty with decal setting solutions and by all reports, these decals conform easily to the model. Where applicable, EagleCals have included multiple decals to ensure perfect registration. The first aircraft Jerry discusses with us is "Red 13", a Bf 109G-6, W.Nr. 27169. This is the colorful aicraft of Fw. Heinrich Bartels of JG 27 flown in November, 1944. This "gunboat" aircraft carries the underwing 20mm cannons and is finished RLM 74, 75 and 76. No photo's of this aircraft are included in the instructions.
The markings for "White 6" are next on the sheet. This is a Bf 109G-6, W.Nr. 26025. It is a colorful "Komet Staffel" aircraft equipped with 21cm rockets and flown in October, 1943 with 7./JG 3. Look to aftermarket suppliers for the underwing rockets as these items are not supplied in the Hasegawa kit at this time. The aircraft is finished in the mid war grays of RLM 74, 75 and 76. The third aircraft
included in this package is for the experimental camouflage pattern

The omission of
the required black crosses from this decal sheet is unfortunate. It
appears that Jerry Crandall of EagleCals will address this oversight
as he strives to supply the modeller with the most accurate markings
available. These decal sheets are complete mini histories of a handfull
of Bf 109's, of the tens of thousands that were manufactured. The enclosed
information will prove to be invaluable to the model builder looking
for accuracy and I highly recommend these and other products from Eagle
Editions. Review Sample Compliments of Eagle Editions Ltd. |

"Please note: Due to a printer error, decal "FF" was deleted from the sheet. We will have these available by March 1. It is needed for "Red 13". Send name and address by e-mail with the subject line EC#39 needed, and we will send it to you when available." |
