This is the second new 1/32nd scale decal sheet from EagleCals based on Jerry Crandall's Major Hans "Assi" Hahn. The Man and his Machines. This book was previously reviewed here. Four new Bf 109 F-2's and F-4's are showcased. Three aircraft are depicted from Hahn's wartime flying career. One of the available schemes, a Bf 109 F-4, was flown by Oblt. Otto Puchinger of Stab III./JG 2.
The instructions use representational drawings referenced to a Bf 109 G for stencil location. As stated by EagleCals, and I agree, those interested in proper placement of stencils should use additional references. Tom Tullis continues to do the artwork for Eagle Editions. His profiles are printed in perfect color and add invaluable reference. Left side, top and bottom scrap views are supplied for each aircraft. This is always appreciated when trying to determine how to correctly depict a camouflage scheme. Micro Scale continues to print the decals for EagleCals. The markings are printed over two sheets and the registration appears to be very good. Given Micro Scales reputation, I would expect no difficulty applying these markings. The markings appear to be very thin with carrier film being virtually invisible.
In my opinion, EagleCals has some of the most accurate markings available for German aircraft of WW II. They have an increasing range of 1/32nd scale decals being made available. For those modelers demanding accuracy in their kits, I would recommend Eagle Editions without hesitation. |
