One Decals USMC Phantoms in S.E. Asia, part 2 FOD 32-006 ¶¶¶¶¶ Reviewed by Mark Proulx |

Backes of Fox One Decals has just released a new decal sheet, continuing
their line of 1/32nd scale Phantom subjects. Decals are supplied for three
Marine Corps aircraft. Two of the aircraft are F-4J's from VMFA-334 and
the third is an F-4J from VMFA-232. These aircraft flew in support of
ground operations, so few oportunities were available to encounter Migs.
The subjects on this decal sheet are "Mud Movers" who flew close
air support and interdiction missions. As with all Fox One Decals, the research that is supplied to the modeller is excellent. The latest decal sheet follows the same format as all earlier releases. An extensive mission summary is supplied for each aircraft and gives the modeller specific details about the mission flown by each aircraft. Detailed loadout configurations are supplied for two of the Phantoms. Clear side view profiles will aid in the placement of the decals. Ben further expands his side profiles with detailed notes about the markings for each Phantom. Construction notes for the Tamiya F-4J and complete painting instructions with applicable F.S. 595b colors are included. Top side views are also included showing the different styles of walkways for these aircraft, which are not included on the decal sheet. As with any quality decal sheet, references are included. They are extensive for this decal sheet and include input from squadron members. These colorful decals are supplied on two large sheets. Sufficient national insignia are included so that the builder can complete one aircraft. As with Ben's earlier releases, the decals are very thin and should pose no problem. I strongly recommend that you give Fox One Decals a try. No Phantom Phanatic would want to be caught without these decals! The research that is included with each scheme sets Fox One Decals apart from all others. |
