G-Factor | Multi-Stand

Reviewed by Matthew Robeson

First things first, it's packed in a very secure white box, with a nicely secured lid. The label is very small on the front, wouldn't mind seeing that a bit bigger, so that it's easier to read.

Inside you find the laser-cut plastic parts nicely wrapped up in bubble wrap. You also will find the metal rod that forms the spine of the stand, and a small bag of the adjustable nuts to put the stand together. One thing that is not included is a 2mm Allen wrench, but I'm sure all of us have one of those sitting around in the tool box.

The instructions are nice and easy to read, and show how everything goes together. They're engineering style drawings, but shouldn't present any issues.

Looking at the plastic parts, the first thing you'll notice is that every face is a different size. This means that you can fit any size of model into the stand securely. The differing diameters are explained in the instructions, so it just involves looking at your model and seeing which side lines up the best. The plates spin easily on the metal rod, so you can adjust it on the fly for different assemblies. Each of the plates is also wrapped in a nice soft foam, so there is no chance at all of scratching your finish.

Construction was nice and quick, just involved deciding what size you want your stand to be, and then adjusting the nuts accordingly.

There are also notches on each face of the plates, so that you can attach rubber bands onto it. This is nice if you need to secure your assembly on the work stand. Nice touch here from G-Factor.

The following are some pictures of the stand in action, holding both the giant B-25, and the much smaller 1/48 F-104. It works great for all sizes of models, and you can support a model on its side for decaling, which is nice.

The one flaw I see with this stand is that it only supports two sides of your model, instead of all four. So it's not the easiest for making sure everything is aligned. It does work great for working on your kit, but that is a small problem.

Currently, this stand is available from Sprue Brothers, and I recommend this stand to builders who don't have something to work off of.
