Scale Aircraft Conversions | 32087: IAR-81C Landing Gear (Azur/Frrom)
Reviewed by Ray Peterson
A recent release from Scale Aircraft Conversions is this new accessory set for the recent Frrom 1/32nd IAR 81C kit. The set includes the main landing gear, actuators, braces and torque links.
This set is simply meant to be a direct replacement for the kit’s plastic landing gear, providing the modeler the option to go with white metal instead of plastic. While the casting is quite good, most of the details are unchanged and any defects of the kit parts, such as molding seams, are therefore replicated on the SAC parts.
I still am not happy with the softness of the alloy used. The IAR has pretty spindly gear, the weak point being where the oleo meets the fork. The SAC gear is of course just as spindly as the kit gear and bends quite easily. I am not sure the SAC gear will not bend over time.
Only Recommended if needed to replace broken kit parts.
Thanks to Scale Aircraft Conversions for the review set.
