Dragon/Cyber Hobby 1/32nd Messerschmitt Bf110 + AIMS G-4 Conversion
By Ernest Roth
I recently completed converting a Dragon Bf 110 C-7 to a G-4 Nightfighter using Pastor John's excellent conversion set. The nightfighter represents that flown by Major Martin "Tino" Becker when he commanded NJG6. The aircraft is a "snapshot in time" set during the summer or fall of 1944.
I did a significant amount of scratchbuilding making the compressed air systems for the nose mounted 30mm cannons and the 20mm Schräge Musik, all the electrical lines for the interior electronics, junction boxes, the rollover protection structure, the undercarriage hydraulics and the undercarriage door closure system.
The conversion was not as difficult as I thought it would be, the only areas that were "tense" being the nacelles, the rear canopy and the Schräge Musik. However, by planning ahead and paying close attention during assembly, along with a couple of modifications those areas were tamed.
I did an extensive build thread in the "Works in Progress" section of the forum if anyone is interested in seeing how "the sausage was made" on this project.
Enjoy the photos!
