Revell 1/32nd Ju88 + AIMS Ju388L-1 Conversion

By John McIllmurray

Hi folks, I have devoted July 2025 to Feb 2026 to my AIMS brand 1/32 Ju 388 L-1 conversion plus the research needed which ended up being a separate printed book!

I can honestly say I have never made a kit using such a wealth of material and the next step is to put it all together for a future KLP publication. One question was how the radio operator get to his seat in the middle? Well, the pilot got in first then radio operator then observer / radar operator got in, released the spring bolt holding the stored seat and lifted it up and over to the right where it locked into place. To exit in an emergency, both the rear roof section and the whole door could be jettisoned.

For the light blue color, if you read my KLP Ju 88 G-6 title you will know I think this late war 76 is in actual fact just plain old 'old stock' RLM 65. It was seen as a duck egg green colour throughout the whole war so I am not sure why at the end it needs an undocumented new name? There are even original colour photos that show it on aircraft sat beside sister aircraft in the correct blue tone of 65! Anyway, I just used the lighter version of RAF SKY.

Health wise each model threatens to be my last and I am in and out of hospital monthly, so I am even more delighted to have finished this model.

Thanks for looking!
