Revell 1/32 Arado Ar 196A-3

By Juha Marjaniemi

Here is my rendering of an Arado 196A-3 and it is my 24th finished model.

The kit is by Revell, a very fine kit in my opinion. I used hardly any putty at all, just a little in some places. I constantly dry fitted during the build to make sure assembly went smooth, time consuming yes it is, but the payoff comes later resulting in almost no putty needed.

I used quite a bit of different AM: Eduard Big Ed, Quintas, HPH, HGW, Master, and others. I also went through and scratched a lot of new parts, the steering column, the compass in the radio/navigator place, and more, and used the HPH canopy which sure indeed was an upgrade over the one supplied with the kit.

The Metallic Details 3D printed engine sadly has shape errors and is too rough and the shape wouldnt fit at all, so skipped that completely.

Special thanks to Rob who helped me with the custom 3D printed figure, corrected, and the details are very, very fine.

Also special thanks to my real good friend Vasileios K. Skouras "vs322" from Britmodeller that knows the Mediterranean Sea and the Greek arkipelag provided me with alot of info.

And my honest and friend sidekick Marko Rouvinen that gave me alot of feedback during the build, an extra pair of eyes.

For more on the build, check my thread in the Work in Progress forum
