Pacific Coast Models 1/32 Spitfire Mk IX

By LSP Ron

This kit is now overshadowed by Tamiya's Spitfire offering which is a bit of a shame as the PCM kit is actually pretty nice. When it was first released it was the only Mk IX available in our scale and they did a pretty good job of it. The kit contains very nice resin wheel wheels, detailed cockpit and exhaust. The provided PE has the seal belts, radiator grills, painting instrument panel and all cockpit placards. It really requires no aftermarket details to build up to a nice example of a Spitfire Mk IX.

I chose to do mine up as Johnnie Johnson's mount and kept it relatively clean. The avid Spitfire expert will note that I messed up and have the wing Roundels overlapping onto the ailerons, unfortunately I did not notice this until well after the decals had dried! oh well.

I have another one of these in my kit stash and look forward to building it someday.

Cheers'
Ron
