Eagle Editions | EagleCals EC#24-160: Hawker Typhoon Part II

Reviewed by Kevin Futter

The Airfix 1/24 Hawker Typhoon was released to great fanfare in 2014, and by all accounts (canopy-gate aside), it's a great kit. Eagle Editions has now released a pair of decal packages for this kit, and here we examine Part II.

The package contains two decals sheets, both superbly printed by Cartograf. Register and colour density are both excellent. The finish is glossy. The supplied booklet is also beautifully printed in full colour, on glossy paper, and is actually a single fold-out sheet. Contained within are colour profiles with decal placement guides, a separate 3-view stencil placement guide, and a description of each aircraft depicted.

The sheets contain decals for three aircraft:

There's little variation between these three schemes, with each consisting of Dark Green and Ocean Grey uppers over Medium Sea Grey lowers, though there is some minor differences with the invasion stripes and spinners. This of course is the nature of subject, and not a shortcoming of the package itself.

Conclusion

This package is a worthy alternative to the kit-supplied decals, and provides some interesting schemes. The quality of the decals themselves is beyond reproach, and I can highly recommend them.

Thanks to Eagle Editions for the review sample.
