Kagero | Grumman F-14 Tomcat in US Navy Service
Reviewed by Kevin Williams
Publishing Date: 2021
This volume from Kagero (typical of the entire Monograph series), is predominantly color photos of the venerable F-14 Tomcat, showing various aspects of day to day carrier operations, weaponry and maintenance scenes. While certainly not a walk around type reference, nonetheless an excellent choice for those that may be interested in adding some nice Tomcat reference to the ol' book collection, as I most certainly will be doing.
The artwork that is provided, aside from color profiles, is confined to mostly technical things, and is appreciated by this author.
Obviously, kits are available in our scale, of the F-14. Representative color artwork associated with various schemes/squadrons (in single profile illustrations), are also provided.
As is clearly evident, the photos are quite superb.
There are also Acknowledgments, as well as mentions of operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
For any and all fans of the venerable Tomcat (and who isn't), this book is just bound to please.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d rate this book as a solid 10, no question about it. Topping out at 108 pages of iconic Tomcat coverage, all of which is in great color imagery, it is highly recommended.
My review copy compliments of Casemate Publishers. Thanks a ton to Casemate, it's a truly awesome piece of reference work, and one that will surely fill the bill for any aviation enthusiast/modeler that has a passion for the much beloved Tomcat.
