RAF WWII G42 Gun Camera

Photos By Max Otten

Photos were taken at the South African Military History Museum, Johannesburg (South Africa) in 2015.

The gun camera is displayed with its lid open, in a glass cabinet. The lens is to the lower left, while the back end has a multipole electrical connector. The separate black rectangle at the bottom fits into gun camera (a blanking plate to avoid light getting into the camera). The black circular item in photo 4 is a 72mm diameter lens cap that allows some idea of the size of the camera (though the perspective view makes it appear larger than the camera). Photo 6 suffers from reflections of the flash in the glass of the display cabinet but is included as it is the only one showing the inside of the electrical connector.
